It's getting to be that temperature turn-around time. Finally! Slowly but surely each day gets a little warmer and the days a little longer. In about 1 month we'll be able to start hitting the ice-off edges of lower elevation trout lakes like Otter Creek, Piute, Minersville, Calder, Brough, etc, etc. Then comes the next level such as Huntington, Scofield, Yankee Meadow, Kolob and others. Then the Primo of Primo, the great Boulder Mountain. I've seen so many of these cycles come and go but it never gets old to me. Turning 50 years old is kind of a milestone but I count my blessings that I still hold my health and drive to continue chasing these alpine jewels. I feel as good now (honestly) as I did at 35. With luck and some dedication to health I hope to go well into my sixties. I thank all my good fishing freinds for helping me keep the desire going and letting me know that the obsession is not just my own. Fish on, folks!

Well said BG. I noticed the snow around the house retreated quite a bit during the night. Another storm is supposed to be here today, but anything put down from this point on will be short lived.
Thanks for keeping the faith!

Yeah, I'm feelin' pretty much the same way. With the new 4x4, I can't wait to hit the hills in search of the fabled waters I've been missing out on.

32" a few days ago at the weather station in almost down town Boulder. Over 8 feet and climbing on the Plateau. I think you will certainly see a cycle this year- one with some of the lakes experiencing a winter kill- all good- all in the cycle of life. Just going to be a very interesting year that way.

I ended up getting a '95 Isuzu Rodeo. It's not a super masher, but it'll get me to the spots. Decent clearance, 4Hi and Lo. My family plus our gear fits comfortably inside. Roof rack, but no tow package. It's this one: http://www.ksl.com/index.php?sid=0&nid=443&tab=list/view&ad=1983596C'mon, MELT!!!

FU and I were chatting today, and even though this winter was a little more rough in central Utah, there was open water on Piute in Feb, and we fished Palisades from our tubes on March 2nd or 3rd, so, soft water is not too far away!
